Palm wood powder derived from palm wood waste was utilized as a novel absorbent material. The investigation involved exploring its pore structure and size to achieve the controlled release of bioactive compounds from plai oil, providing protection against pathogenic bacteria and thereby extending the shelf life of broccoli. The palm wood sachet was prepared before being placed into the broccoli bag. The process to create the sachet involved freezing the palm wood at −10°C and then drying it at a temperature of 200°C. After drying, the material was ground to achieve a particle size of 20 mesh and then packaged into sachets made from wood pulp. The optimized palm wood plai oil sachet (PWPS), measuring 5 × 7 cm, with a thickness of 0.58 µm, was produced by soaking 2 g of palm powder in plai oil at a concentration of 30 µL/mL before drying and packing it inside a 5‐L polyethylene plastic bag (24 × 34 cm) along with broccoli (150 g). The packages were kept at 4°C for 20 days to determine the antimicrobial activity of the PWPS and broccoli quality. PWPS significantly inhibited the growth of Escherichia coli, Salmonella Typhimurium, Staphylococcus aureus, and Listeria monocytogenes in broccoli for at least 20 days. The sachet demonstrated complete inhibition of all bacteria when reused at least two times and an 80% reduction in efficacy after three uses. Moreover, the PWPS controlled the growth of total aerobic bacteria and yeast and mold in broccoli, meeting microbiological criteria for up to 14 days. Broccoli stored with PWPS showed good quality results and contained high antioxidant value. These results demonstrate the potential application of PWPS in controlling food pathogens and spoilage microbes during storage.Practical ApplicationThis study introduces a novel absorbent material made from palm wood powder, addressing the need for utilizing abundant waste palm wood in the food industry. The material benefits the safe transportation of vegetables from farms to markets. Its porous structure allows efficient absorption of plai oil emulsion, ensuring pathogen‐free and high‐quality treated broccoli. The reusable sachets benefit farmers seeking to extend the shelf life of fresh produce. This cost‐effective method utilizes plai oil vapor, making it suitable for large‐scale production.

The aim of this study was to investigate the efficacy of the ithmid kohl/zinc-oxide nanoparticles (ZnONPs), ithmid kohl/Aloe vera, and ZnONPs/Aloe vera in the treatment of bacterial endophthalmitis. The endophthalmitis model was prepared by contaminating both eyes of 24 healthy adult male albino rabbits with a clinical isolate of Klebsiella pneumoniae. The animals were randomly divided into eight groups (A-H) according to the treatment. Group A received 1 ml of ithmid kohl/ZnONPs ointment, group B received 1 ml of ithmid kohl/Aloe vera gel ointment, group C received 1 ml of ZnONPs/Aloe vera gel ointment, and groups D, E, and F were treated with 1 ml of ithmid kohl solution (0.5 g/ml in distilled water), 1 ml of ZnONPs (0.5 g/ml) colloidal dispersion, and 1 ml of Aloe vera gel, respectively. Group G received 100 μl of a tetracycline antibiotic solution (final concentration: 16 µg/ml), and group H received sterile distilled water (no treatment). In vitro antibacterial activity was evaluated against K. pneumoniae using the agar well diffusion. The combination of ithmid kohl/ZnONPs was the most effective formulation for treating endophthalmitis model in infected rabbits within 2 days. In vitro antibacterial assay confirmed the potential of the ithmid kohl/ZnONPs formulation, which had the largest zone of inhibition (31 mm) among the compounds tested. The preparation of the ithmid kohl/ZnONPs formulation and its in vivo experiment in albino rabbits for the treatment of bacterial endophthalmitis was an innovative approach that has shown promise and may potentially serve as a viable alternative in clinical practice.

Changes in the microenvironment, like changes in mechanical forces, oxygen levels, and the production of growth factors, can have a direct effect on the recruitment and activation of cells, which can make repair less effective. Even though wound healing is hard, a lot of work has gone into understanding how wounds heal, making wound care better, and creating new therapies and tools. Herbal medicine has become a good option for many health problems, including wound healing. It has been shown that these natural treatments can help treat ulcers, skin infections, inflammation, and wounds. Traditional herbal medicines are very popular because they are easy to get, don't cost much, and have deep cultural roots. This review talks about how medicinal plants and their derivatives can help heal wounds. It stresses how important herbal medicines are for treating and caring for wounds. These treatments can help clean, remove dead skin, and keep the area wet so that natural healing can happen. However, herbal drugs need to be standardized and their quality must be checked to make sure they are always the same and work as intended. Herbal drugs have a lot of potential to treat and cure a wide range of illnesses. This makes them an interesting choice for wound care and treatment.
