Plant species belonging to the family Acanthaceae are globally known to possess various medicinal properties and have cultural and economic importance in both traditional medicine and horticulture. They are important to both animals and humans and are used as food or for ornamental purposes worldwide. Barleria is the third largest genus in the family Acanthaceae. A few of the highly important and reported species of Barleria include B. prionitis, B. cristata, B. grandiflora, and B. lupulina. The flowers, leaves, stems, roots, and seed extracts of plants belonging to this genus are rich in bioactive compounds and have exhibited significant medicinal potential for the treatment of various ailments and infections. Hydrotropic agents are stated as ionic organic salts which help to increase or decrease the solubility of solute in a given solvent via ‘salt in’ or ‘salt out’ effects, respectively. Salts which show ‘salt in’ of non-electrolytes are called “hydrotropic salts” and the phenomenon is known as “hydrotropism. There are about 45,000 plant species in India, with concentrated hotspots in the region of Eastern Himalayas.Entire plants of Barleriaelegans collected from Shrinathji Institute of pharmacy, Nathdwara and the plant was authenticated by Dr. R.L. Bhardwaj. The leaves of Barleriaelegans plant was characterized by its morphological features like colour, shape, size and surface characteristics has been studies. The plant materials (500gm) were initially defatted with petroleum ether and then extracted with blends RP-1 to RP-6 using a Soxhlet apparatus. The yield of the plant extracts measured about 20 g each after evaporating the solvent using water bath. As per result of TLC, we found that the hydrotropic blends solution aurecoferindly and cost effective method for the extraction purpose. All the phytoconstitutents which was earlier reported in previous literature by the use of organic solvents which were also present for the use of hydrotropic solvents.

This paper deals with the Hybrid Energy Storage System (HESS) for Battery Electric, Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles. Its performance is compared with conventional HESS design and also only Battery design, conventional design uses a bigger dc/dc converter between Battery and Ultracapacitor to satisfy the peak power demands in the real time, In this analysis a smaller dc/dc converter is used which maintains the voltage of ultracapacitor higher than the battery voltage by working as controlled energy pump. Battery will provide power directly only when voltage of the Ultracapacitor drops below the voltage of the Battery. Therefore, a constant and smooth load profile can be created for the battery. For the proposed HESS system Simulation results are presented to verify.

Flurbiprofen (FLB) and methyl salicylate (MS), the actives in a commercial topical gel formulation were extracted for their simultaneous estimation. The extraction system was optimized, validated for elimination of interferences associated with matrix materials used in the formulation and also compensate for possible interference of one drug by the other during analysis. An efficient extraction procedure was developed for the separation of flurbiprofen and methyl salicylate from the marketed formulation Brugel and analyzed for the content with a new validated vierodt's simultaneous equation method. Detection wavelengths of 248 and 304 nm were used for recording the absorbance as they represent the absorption maxima of flurbiprofen and methyl salicylate respectively. Simultaneous equations were designed to estimate the unknown concentration of both the components in the marketed formulation. Linearity was calculated using standard stock solution of methyl salicylate and flurbiprofen in the concentration range of 5-30 µg/mL. The developed method was found to be specific, precise, accurate and can be used for routine analysis of flurbiprofen and methyl salicylate in marketed gel formulations.
