“…15,16 Elliptical trainers are assumed to offer the benefits of walking without its negative effects (impulsive forces) by providing a walking-like exercise, while maintaining constant foot contact with the pedal platforms. 1,4,17 Porcari et al 18 measured normal pedal reaction force (PRF) during EE and reported that the peak normal PRFs were similar to the peak vertical reaction forces during treadmill walking, and intermediate to those observed during cycling and treadmill running. Since the shear components were not measured and the pedals were rotating during EE, the actual vertical, a-p and m-l components of the PRF could not be obtained.…”
