The yield components of pumpkin seeds and fruits were examined in Stara Pazova in period [2016][2017]. Different pumpkin populations were enrolled in the study, grown at following locations in Serbia: Šabac, Šumadija and Negotin. Pumpkin originating in Šumadija was found to produce highest seed yield (0.738 t ha‫)¹-‬ and possess greatest average seed mass per fruit (110.7 g). Highest fruit yield (95.1 t ha‫)¹-‬ and greatest fruit mass (14.5 kg) were recorded in population from Šabac. A significant correlation (p ≤ 0.001) was found between fruit yield and fruit mass, as well as between seed yield and seed mass per fruit. Based on two-year experiment, following conclusions can be drawn: origin of population greatly affects all components of seed and fruit yield; high yields of seeds in Northern Serbia can be produced by cultivating population from Šumadija, whereas high yields of fruits can be produced by cultivating population from Šabac. REZIMEIstraživanje komponenti prinosa semena i ploda populacija bele bundeve ispitivane su tokom 2016. i 2017. godine na lokaciji severne Srbije u Staroj Pazovi. Za istraživanje korišćene su populacije bele bundeve poreklom sa tri različita lokaliteta iz Srbije: zapadna (Šabac), centralna (Šumadija) i istočna (Negotin). Dobijeni rezultati ukazuju da poreklo populacije značajno (р<0,01) utiče na sve komponente prinosa bundeve. Kod populacije poreklom iz Šumadije utvrđen je najveći prinos semena (0,738 t ha‫)¹-‬ i najveća prosečna masa semena po plodu (110,7 g), dok je najveći ukupan prinos ploda bundeve (95,1 t ha‫)¹-‬ i najveća prosečna masa ploda (14,3 kg) konstatovana kod populacije iz Šabca. Zabeležena je visoka korelaciona zavisnost (p≤0,001) između ukupnog prinosa ploda i prosečne mase ploda, kao i kod ukupnog prinosa semena i prosečne mase semena po plodu. Na osnovu rezultata dvogodišnjih istraživanja uticaja populacije i ekoloških uslova na komponente prinosa semena i ploda bundeve, možemo izvesti sledeće zaključke:poreklo populacija bundeve značajno utiče na sve komponente prinosa za dobijanje visokih prinosa semena bundeve u uslovima severne Srbije možemo preporučiti populaciju poreklom iz Šumadije, dok za proizvodnju ploda treba gajiti populaciju bundeve iz Šabca.

The influence of grain moisture content at harvest and at the moment of popping on popping volume and percentage of unpopped kernels was analysed. Four popcorn hybrids were studied. Hybrids were harvested when grain moisture content was: above 25%, between 20 -25%, and below 18%. Each sample was popped at 20%, 18%, 16%, 14%, 12%, and 10% of grain moisture. All examined factors and their interactions significantly influenced both popping volume and percentage of unpopped kernels. The highest popping volume and the lowest percentage of unpopped kernels were observed at 14% grain moisture content. Hybrid ZP 608k had the highest popping volume and the lowest percentage of unpopped kernels at all treatments and overall. The lowest popping volume and the highest percentage of unpopped kernels were noticed for ZP 501k. The lowest percentage of unpopped kernels was observed in the last harvest term when grain moisture content was below 18%.

The far west region of Santa Catarina (FWSC) state in southern Brazil was indicated as a microcenter of diversity of the Zea genus. In this region, local popcorn varieties are grown in small areas, but in a significant number of farms. The present study aimed to characterize the diversity of 41 local populations from that region, based on phenology and morphological characters of plant, ear and grain. Therefore, an experimental design of complete randomized blocks with two replications was conducted. The data allowed to identify a rich diversity of popcorn in the FWSC for the characteristics of plant, ear, and grain, as well as for the phenology. For the color, 20 populations presented white grain, nine black, nine yellow, two red and one orange. Regarding the cycle, all varieties of yellow and round grains were considered hyper early/early and the varieties of white grains, intermediate/late. Average plant height varied from 1.8 to 3.2 m, while the weight of one thousand kernels varied from 80.9 to 200.4 g. The accumulated day degrees for tasseling ranged from 689.05 to 1,090.57. Based on the cluster analysis of qualitative and quantitative characters, three groups were formed, and five populations were isolated. The inclusion of plant characteristics and phenology can be an important and complementary tool for studies in popcorn races. Trends in some plant characteristics were observed within popcorn varieties with the same grain features. This result is important information for popcorn genetic breeding strategies.
