“…Confirming previous study results [14][15][16] we found increased RI and PI in the MCA indicating reduced distal vascular compliance in patients with WMD which has been thought to be consistent with the development of small vessel cerebral disease. These findings remained significant after adjusting for all vascular risk factors.…”

“…Our results are in good correlation with the results of the previous epidemiological studies and once again confirm a strong impact of the modifiable risk factors on cerebrovascular disease and cognitive decline [5,7,9]. In our study there was no subjects with arterial hypertension, diabetes mellitus or atrial fibrillation and hyperlipidemia was present in 1 case and was medically regulated in the group of young healthy volunteers, while in other groups these risk factors were present in greater amount, and especially not treated medically adequate in the group of MCI subjects [10][11][12][13].…”

“…Previous studies as well as our results suggest that mechanical arterial properties (changes in BHI) are affected first with aging while hemodynamic remains mostly preserved (mean velocities were unchanged or slightly changed due to cerebral autoregulation mechanisms) in healthy individuals [7,8,[23][24][25].…”
