Abstract: Background: Ideal management of alcohol withdrawal syndrome (AWS) incorporates a symptom-driven approach, where patients are regularly assessed using a standardized scoring system (Clinical Institute Withdrawal Assessment for Alcohol-Revised [CIWA-Ar]) and treated according to severity.
