Evaluation of a Refrigeration System Based on Nano-Refrigerants and Nano-Lubricants

Abstract: Most of studies reported that disperse nanoparticles into refrigerants and lubricating oils lead to improve a coefficient of performance, due to improvement of thermal physics properties of a pure fluid, which leads to reduced energy consumption. Using nanoparticles in a refrigeration system is associated with many difficulties such as the cost of preparing and obtaining a stable and homogeneous mixture for a longer time with less agglomeration and sedimentation. In this research, nanoparticles were prepared a… Show more

“…Nanorefrigerants are a combination of refrigerants and nanoparticles that are specifically designed for heat transfer purposes. The use of nanorefrigerants/nanolubricants improved system performance and efficiency while lowering energy consumption [9][10][11]. The single-step technique, which involves the simultaneous formation and dispersion of nanoparticles in the base fluid [12], and the two-step technique, which involves the dispersion of the nanoparticles directly in the refrigerant or lubricant [13], are used to prepare nanorefrigerants and nanolubricants.…”

“…HudaElsam et al [28] has investigated Cerium Oxide nanoparticle as a single material and as a blend with copper oxide to verify the feasibility of this oxide to increase nanolubricant stability and enhanced thermal characteristics. Pritam and Bijan [29] carried study on the performance enhancement of a shell and tube evaporator using Al 2 O 3 / R600a nanorefrigerant.…”
