“…When we discovered that C. dubliniensis forms chlamydospores on Staib agar, we also noted the ability of pure G. abyssinica plant seed material, the main constituent of Staib agar, to induce chlamydospores in C. dubliniensis . The capacity to induce chlamydospore formation in C. dubliniensis was found for many, but not all, other plant seeds tested, 63 and our own unpublished results. This observation supports the view that, apart from nutritional requirements and incubation parameters, chlamydospore induction is also positively influenced by specific external signals.…”
