Evaluation Method to Select Pure Electric Buses Based on Road Operation Tests

Abstract: In China, the development of pure electric buses is an essential means to address energy and environmental concerns. Proper evaluation and selection of pure electric buses is a crucial step prior to introducing the buses into actual operation. This paper presents a multi-objective method for the selection of pure electric buses based on road driving tests. An index system for evaluating the operating performance through the fuzzy analytic hierarchy process is established, and to ensure the method is more syste… Show more

“…Anttila et al [14] proposed a performance evaluation method for electric buses based on chassis dynamometer measurements. The method uses powertrain efficiency tests to provide performance testing techniques for heavy-duty electric vehicles under laboratory conditions.Based on real data, Liu et al [15] proposed an evaluation method for pure electric buses based on road operation tests. Oier et al [16] and Du et al [17] proposed electric bus performance evaluation methods from different perspectives based on Stockholm and Chinese cities, respectively.…”

“…The hydrogen-powered (by fuel cell) vehicles (HFCVs) are another technological option trying to overcome BEV limitations still having zero local emissions. As fuel cells are inadequate to follow highly transient road power demands, for automotive applications, they are usually hybridized with electrochemical batteries [9][10][11][12]. Over the last decade, more than 80 hybrid transit buses using hydrogen FC and batteries have been operated on about 8 million kilometres in several European cities, demonstrating the suitability of the technology [13].…”
