Evaluation and performance characteristics of the coagulation system: ACL TOP analyzer – HemosIL reagents

Abstract: ACL TOP is a fully automated coagulation analyzer, designed for simultaneous measurement of routine and special coagulation parameters. We evaluated analytical and technical performance characteristics of the coagulation system composed of the ACL TOP analyzer and HemosIL reagent group for the determination of routine clotting (PT, APTT, fibrinogen, FVII, and FVIII), chromogenic (protein C) and immunological assays (FXIII antigen). Within run and between run CVs ranged from 0.9% to 7.7% and from 2.0% to 14.8% … Show more

“…The instrument was calibrated against appropriate proprietary reference standard material and verified with the use of proprietary quality controls. A reported performance evaluation of the within-run precision of the automated coagulation analyzer ACL TOP in normal plasma showed coefficients of variation ranging from 1.6% for aPTT to 3.5% for FIB [12]. Our evaluation of the within-run precision by internal quality control on ACL TOP showed low coefficients of variation.…”

“…Prothrombin time, APTT, and fibrinogen were assayed using the same fully automated coagulation analyzer ACL TOP 700 (Instrumentation Laboratory Bedford, MA, USA), with RecombiPlasTin (Instrumentation Laboratory), SynthASil (Instrumentation Laboratory) and Fibrinogen‐CXL (Instrumentation Laboratory), respectively. The analytical performance of these tests has been earlier described elsewhere . Immediately after collection, all blood tubes were centrifuged at 1300 × g for 15 minutes at room temperature, in accordance with the current recommendations of the Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) .…”
