Evaluation and improvement of image sticking in in-plane switching liquid crystal display

Abstract: Image sticking in liquid crystal display (LCD) can affect the display quality. The saturated residual direct current voltage (SRDCV) can be obtained by analyzing the change in the capacitance of LC cell under the direct current bias, through which image sticking can be evaluated. On this basis, the image sticking was evaluated in the in-plane switching (IPS) cell filled in the LC with negative dielectric anisotropy for different electrode structures, cell gaps (i.e. 3.8, 5.8, and 7.5 µm), and doping concentrat… Show more

“…However, LCDs are also notorious for suffering image sticking issues, which continue to impede the development of new LCD products and the extension of their use. [3] It is urgent to break through this problem, and the inherent properties of the material need to be considered, such as the photodecomposition and flexo-electric electrical effects of liquid crystal materials. [4] But adjusting the material itself is difficult.…”

“…According to our research, the general image sticking compensation technology for AM MLED is vacant. In LCD and OLED fields, image sticking problem has been researched widely [1][2][3][4][5]. Image sticking always arises to static regions in the displayed content, such as logo image on TV.…”
