Evaluation and analysis of traffic noise along bus rapid transit system corridor

Abstract: Due to increasing motorization, construction of flyovers and growth in transport network, the noise level has exceeded the prescribed limits in many Indian cities. The health implications of high noise levels are being identified as hypertension, sleeplessness, mental stress, etc. Due to this adverse effect of noise level, it is essential to assess the impact of traffic noise on residents and road users. This research is an effort to quantify and analyze the traffic noise emissions along bus rapid transit corr… Show more

“…This effort is useful for motivating people towards the use of public transport system [4]. The light motor vehicles are the main source of noise pollution in the city and have higher correlation coefficient values in generating noise pollution under interrupted traffic flow conditions in urban areas of Indian cities [5].…”

“…The magnitude of Road Traffic Noise (RTN) in developing countries like Jordan is already large and is steadily growing due to the increase in population coupled with the increase in number of vehicles to the extent that all these countries are facing threat due to vehicular pollution [1]. Prediction of RTN is a fairly complicated procedure that involves a significant amount of assumptions and simplifications towards understanding the procedure.…”
