High-quality economic development is an innovation-driven economy, and collaborative innovation is key to maximizing its effects. In terms of the influence of cooperative innovation of urban agglomerations on high-quality economic development, urban agglomerations are of considerable relevance to the coordinated development of China’s regional economy. This research established an evaluation system of high-quality economic development indicators for the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei urban agglomeration based on panel data of 13 cities from 2003 to 2020, and then estimated the level of high-quality development of each city’s economy. The spatial Durbin model was used in this article to examine the effects of collaborative innovation on the high-quality development of the economy. The findings indicated that, although high-quality economic development was increasing across the board in the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei urban agglomeration, it varied greatly between the individual cities. Beijing and Tianjin had much higher levels of high-quality economic development than the other cities in Hebei, and there was some variation within the Hebei cities as well. The high-quality economic development of the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei urban agglomeration exhibited no spatial correlation characteristics under the weight of geographical distance. However, there was an aggregation effect on the differential relationship of economic development, which was also significant under the dual influence of economic geography. The collaborative innovation of Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei urban agglomeration could promote the high-quality economic development of both the inner and surrounding cities, and could also improve the high-quality economy development level of the overall urban agglomeration.

As China's economy transitions from high-speed growth to high-quality development, digital inclusive finance emerges as a dynamic and pivotal sector within the country's financial system. This domain plays a crucial role in addressing the shortcomings of traditional financial services, enhancing the efficiency of financial services, promoting consumption, and driving economic growth. As the turmoil caused by the COVID-19 epidemic gradually stabilizes, the impact of the epidemic on the economic development of various countries is gradually reduced, and the development of the global economy gradually returns to normal, China's economic development is facing new opportunities and challenge. Given the current challenges in China's economic environment, China has made new adjustments and begun to promote high-quality economic development on the premise of significantly improving quality and efficiency. Therefore, in the current stage of China’s economic development, it is imperative to investigate whether digital inclusive finance can indeed foster high-quality economic development. This paper begins by reviewing literature relevant to digital inclusive finance and high-quality economic development. Subsequently, utilizing panel data from 2011 to 2020 across 30 provinces, a bidirectional fixed-effects model is employed to validate the positive impact of digital inclusive finance on high-quality economic development. The study further explores whether digital inclusive finance exhibits positive effects on high-quality economic development in different regions. Finally, based on the research findings, the paper concludes with several policy recommendations for optimizing the role of digital finance in promoting regional economic growth.

The expansion of China's development zones has made great contributions to economic development, as well as provided practical guidance for other developing countries to implement development zone policies. However, in the context of global advocacy of low carbon, literature about how the development zone policy affect carbon emissions is poor, especially in China at the urban level. Therefore, this study takes China's development zone policy as a quasi-natural experiment, using the panel data of 285 cities in China from 2003 to 2020, and adopting the DID model to analyze its impact on carbon emissions. After a series of robustness tests including placebo test, dynamic test (all independent variables are lagged by one period), endogeneity test, and parallel trend test, the results are basically robust. The findings show that the development zone policy indeed significantly reduces carbon emissions. In addition, we find that cities with higher resource endowments, cities in the eastern and central regions, and other larger cities across the country have better carbon emissions reduction effects. To a certain extent, the research in this paper fills the gap of theoretical research on carbon emissions in terms of the development zone policy, and provides some practical basis for future research in the field of carbon emissions.
