“…The origin and foundations of what is currently known as Muscle Tension Dysphonia (MTD) lie in the early 1980s. In 1982, Koufman and Blalock [5], in an attempt to better define and organize functional disorders of the voice, proposed a way to classify these disorders by dividing them into five big groups: conversion reaction, postviral chronic hoarseness, inappropriate falsetto, postoperative dysphonia, and vocal misuse/abuse syndromes.
