“…Social informatics approaches also have been used to understand how online and offline knowledge and communication spaces can be conceptualized using social informatics approaches, such as Socio‐Technical Interaction Networks (STINs) (Taylor‐Smith & Smith, ). STINs have also been used to understand how stakeholders access knowledge in library collections (Waugh, Hamner, Klein, & Brannon, ), how historians create geographical knowledge (Suri, ), and how distributed learning can only be understood as a complex interplay among people, technologies, practices, and learning artifacts (Walker & Creanor, ). These and other examples are geared toward understanding the complex nature of knowledge creation in the digital era.…”

“…Scholarly output is moving beyond the realm of the traditional manuscript or journal article, and since graduate students are far more likely than established faculty to utilize IRs as a research tool or publishing platform, IRs should be particularly responsive to cutting edge research trends like digital humanities products and multimedia scholarship. 26 Today's IRs must support a range of different non-text resources -datasets, audio files, streaming video, maps and coordinates, high resolution images, archival and museum artifacts, and even software. 27 Therefore, IR managers must be able to tweak submission workflows, alter required fields, and provide specialized instructions to both submitters and end users according to the media type and format being deposited.…”

“…Paprastai tiriamas mokslininkų požiūris į atvirąją prieigą apskritai, institucinės talpyklos žinomumas, jos naudojimas, pasitenkinimas teikiamomis paslaugomis (Eger et al, 2015;Kim, 2011;Kocken, Wical, 2013;Lwoga, Questier, 2015;Serrano-Vicente, Melero, 2016;Waugh et al, 2015;Schlagen, 2015), siekiama įvardyti nesinaudojimo talpyklomis priežastis (Davis, Connelly, 2007), teigiama, kad mokslininkų požiūriui į institucinę talpyklą gali daryti įtaką net licencinės sutarties ypatybės (Rinehart, Cunningham, 2017). Tiriamas institucinių talpyklų turinys, jose skelbiamų publikacijų skaičiaus augimo tempai, kurie savo ruožtu atspindi fakultetų dalyvavimo registruojant dokumentus į talpyklas apimtis ir padeda išsiaiškinti būdus, kurie skatintų aktyvesnį talpyklų naudojimą.…”
