Abstract: IntroductionIntake of sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs) is associated with negative health effects. Access to healthy beverages may be promoted by policies such as the Healthy Beverage Executive Order (HBEO) established by former Boston mayor Thomas M. “…Compared to the pre-implementation period, access to red-coded, unhealthy beverages decreased by 27.8% (P<0.001) overall; red beverage access in vending machines decreased by 28.9% (P<0.001) and in cafes/cafeterias by 20.4% (P = 0.02). In addition, average calories per beverage sold within access points decreased by 48.6 kcal from 88.1 kcal to 39.5 kcal post-implementation [ 50 ].
