Huge financial resources are spent in the construction industry all over the world, which are frequently wasted largely due to a lack of proper planning. In recent decades, in an attempt to overcome challenges, various contractual and administrative systems have been used by construction owners/clients. One such system has been Integrated Project Delivery (IPD). Its implementation has, however, experienced drawbacks. Identifying such drawbacks is an initial step in attempting to resolve them, and this paper aims to identify and prioritize the IPD implementation drawbacks in the context of the Iranian construction industry. A comprehensive list of IPD implementation drawbacks is prepared using a questionnaire survey. An in-depth literature review of the IPD concept has been combined with a review of various case studies applying the IPD system. The results were analyzed using the Robust Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) method. 22 drawbacks in the Construction Industry were categorized under four themes; contractual, environmental, managerial, and technical. Results show that contractual drawbacks are the most significant. The implication of this research is that identifying and classifying IPD implementation drawbacks provides a useful reference to managers and owners of the construction industry, for identifying and codifying solutions to overcome them.

Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) is introduced as a vibrant approach to enhance project implementation, having particular position in recent studies among construction researchers. This study analyzes the research trends on the field of IPD to provide an appropriate vision for future researchers in this specialized field. While so far no comprehensive research has been done in this field, this study provides a comprehensive review of existing studies through in-depth literature review method. This research evaluates studies conducted in the field of IPD, which is a basis for future researchers to improve conditions of IPD implementation in different countries. For that this study Using library studies, the trend of researches conducted on various concepts and domains during various years, has been investigated. Future studies can simply use the outputs of this research to shape their research flow on establishing continuing progress of IPD. The data obtained from descriptive analyses are illustrated quantitatively, followed by comprehensive analyses and discussion of the results. Moreover, this study concluded that during recent years, the trend of studies conducted about IPD has increased, particularly articles examined challenges. In the next step, more studies have been performed in the field of construction. Those articles are preferred that have evaluated principles, challenges, and solutions for resolving barriers. Proper IPD implementation facilitates enhanced share of information and early identification of stakeholders through a proper timing as vital keys to realize objectives of the construction projects, reduce risks, and increase the chance of project success.

A construção industrializada se mostra como uma oportunidade para aperfeiçoar o processo de produção na construção civil, mas para sua efetiva aplicação é preciso estabelecer um processo de produção condizente com suas características. O objetivo desta pesquisa é analisar como cada uma das perspectivas da integraçãocontratual, organizacional e de tecnologia da informaçãopode aperfeiçoar e ampliar o uso da construção industrializada. A integração do processo de produção é considerada como uma solução para aumentar a qualidade e produtividade na construção civil e suas características estão alinhados aos requisitos da industrialização, seja por meio do uso da pré-fabricação e/ou de técnicas de racionalização da construção. Na literatura afirma-se que, na construção em geral, só é possível alcançar a integração do processo com mudanças estruturais nas três perspectivas. Investigou-se, no caso da construção industrializada, se um alto nível de integração em uma ou duas dessas perspectivas pode compensar a menor ou a sua ausência em outra(s). Para tanto, criou-se um ordenamento do grau de integração relativo a cada perspectiva, pela análise em detalhe de suas características, com a ajuda de diagramas específicos. Também foi elaborada uma tabela geral, com as interdependências entre as três perspectivas dado a graduação em cada uma. Tal método serviu de base para a análise de cinco estudos de caso de construção industrializada. Observouse que, características da integração organizacional são as que mais favorecem o uso da industrialização, estabelecendo uma visão sistêmica ao processo. É possível estabelecer o trabalho colaborativo sem que a integração esteja definida no modelo de contrato. A integração pela tecnologia da informação, especificamente por meio do BIM, ainda que não se tenha mostrado essencial, permite antecipar possíveis incompatibilidades entre os sistemas construtivos.
