Evaluating change: Using the Measure of Processes of Care‐Service Provider as an outcome measure for performance and confidence in family‐centred care

Abstract: Background: Family-centred care (FCC) is considered the best practice in paediatric care but it is not always implemented sufficiently. Effective training programmes that enhance health care providers' knowledge and self-efficacy have the potential to improve FCC implementation in their daily practice. The goal of the study was to evaluate the sensitivity of the measure of processes of care (MPOC)-service provider (MPOC-SP) version and MPOC confidence (MPOC-Con) in detecting changes following an FCC training.M… Show more

“…This study was the first to measure changes in FCCspecific self-efficacy after provider training. The MPOC-Con developed for this study holds promise (Gafni-Lachter et al, 2019). It showed adequate internal consistency and correlation with MPOC-SP scores, indicating preliminary construct validity.…”

“…Increasing self-efficacy, although not a sufficient dimension for determining actual behavioral change, is important for increasing the likelihood of translating knowledge change into practice. Previous studies have identified self-efficacy as a meaningful outcome in professional training studies [ 47 49 ]. The mechanism underlying the effects of self-efficacy on behavior has been linked to cognitive motivational factors.…”

“…Lastly, the purpose of designing this type of tool is to develop and contribute to the implementation of a process of continuous improvement, which is necessary in the service quality culture of early childhood intervention centres, facilitating their evaluation and the evaluation of their services, and allowing the implementation of improvements both in the short and long term [48,61].…”
