Show more

“…To the best of our knowledge, few investigations have been performed on the antifungal in situ effects of hybrid films containing essential oils in avocadoes. Nevertheless, Chávez-Magdaleno et al [ 32 ] performed similar in vitro experiments to those of our investigation. However, these authors measured the radial growth of wild strains of Colletotrichum sp.…”

“…Similar results indicate that Ruta graveolens essential oil has powerful antifungal activity against Aspergillus fumigatus and Cladosporium herbarum [24]. As well as the combined application of chitosan and cinnamon essential oil, the preparations were also effective against fungi isolated from avocado (Colletotrichum acutatum and C. gloeosporioides) because its mycelial growth was totally reduced [25]. On the other hand, the essential oil of mandarin inhibited the growth of Penicillium digitatum in vitro, which causes green mold on citrus fruits in postharvest [26].…”

“…[3] The main nutraceuticals of avocadoes are those classified as unsaturated fatty acids. [4] The quality of avocadoes may decrease because of several biotic and abiotic factors during the postharvest period. [5] In this context, postharvest fungal diseases triggered by Sphaceloma Lasiodiplodia, Colletotrichum, Rhizopus, Pseudocercospora, and Fusarium genera are the main threat to the avocado market.…”
