Bu çalışmanın amacı, alan yazında “Hüzün Turizmi” olarak tanımlanan özel ilgiye dayalı turizm türünün, akademik çalışmalarda nasıl ve hangi kavramlar ile tanımlandığının araştırılmasıdır. Araştırmanın evrenini; 2000- 2021 yılları arasında Türkiye’de ulusal ve uluslararası dergilerde yayımlanan çalışmalar, konu ile ilgili yazılmış tezler ve kongre bildirileri oluşturmaktadır. Bu kapsamda “Google Akademik, TR Dizin ile Ulusal Tez Merkezi”nde ulaşılabilen 14 lisansüstü tez, 40 makale ve Türkiye’deki kongrelerde sunulan konuya ilişkin 6 bildiri (tebliğ) olmak üzere toplamda 60 yayın değerlendirmeye tabi tutulmuştur. Hüzün turizmine yönelik gerçekleştirilen araştırmaların literatür taraması için ikincil kaynaklardan veri toplama yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler çeşitli parametreler çerçevesinde analiz edilerek çalışmaların; yayımlandığı yıllar, anahtar kelimeler, kavramsal ve görgül olma durumları, araştırma türü, veri toplama ve veri analiz yöntemleri ile yazarların sayılarına ilişkin dağılımı incelenmiştir. Araştırma neticesinde elde edilen analize göre çalışmaların ilk olarak 2006 yılında başladığı, 2017 yılı itibariyle artış gösterdiği tespit edilmiştir. Yüzde ve frekans analizi üzerinden değerlendirilen anahtar kelimelerde ise “Savaş Alanları Turizmi” anahtar kelimelerinin ön plana çıktığı görülmektedir. Araştırmalar çok yazarlılık açısından incelendiğinde çoğunluğunun iki yazarlı çalışmalardan oluştuğu belirlenmiştir. Bu çalışmalar araştırma yöntemine göre değerlendirildiğinde tezlerde nicel yöntem tercih edilirken makale ve bildirilerde ise ağırlıklı olarak nitel yöntemin tercih edildiği gözlemlenmiştir.

Conventional scientific definitions of dementia, or its newer proposed alternate—neurocognitive disorders place emphasis upon cognitive function, particularly memory. The changes in thought, emotion, behavior, personality, and biological function are usually considered only of secondary importance. At the core of the illness, however, lies a progressive loss of self, and by extension, of personhood, identity, autonomy, and agency. The identity of the person living with dementia, and the deterioration of a sense of self assumes significance in planning end of life care, including palliative care. A consideration of self and identity is also significant where physician assisted death, incorporating euthanasia, has legal sanctity. As dementia progresses, there is usually a progressive loss of personal decision making capacity and legal competence. Shared decision making, advance care directives and proxy representatives are options available to safeguard autonomy and agency in such cases. Advance care directives are often treated as static documents. The loss of self and deterioration of identity in persons with dementia means, that there is a psychological discontinuity across time and space, though biological continuity is retained. The discontinuity in self and identity however, imply that the person with dementia changes considerably and so too may values and beliefs. A document which best reflected the wishes of the person with dementia in the past, may not always do so now. Advance directives and proxy representatives may need to be dynamic and evolve over time, particularly where end of life care and physician assisted death is being invoked.

Medical Tourism (MT) has increased in recent years, since a large number of patients from worldwide have travelled to other countries to receive medical cares. This tendency poses deep ethical dilemmas with reference to both the respect of human rights and the unequal distribution of healthcare resources between the rich and the poor. According to the above-mentioned considerations, our paper aims at exploring the ethical concerns of MT and of its social sustainability, as well. In doing this, the neo-institutionalist perspective has been adopted to understand the phenomenon. The proposed paper is theoretical one: it reviews relevant health and medical tourism literature, crossing it with the main contributions belonging to the neo-institutionalism. The adoption of a neo-institutional perspective provides scholars for a new framework that has never been used before, to investigate MT.
