EUS-guided FNA in diagnosing pancreatic lesions: Strength and cytological spectrum

Abstract: Introduction:Early and accurate diagnosis is paramount for improving the therapeutic efficacy of pancreatic cancers. Endoscopic ultrasonography–fine needle aspiration (EUS-FNA) cytology has come up with the advantage of an early and accurate diagnosis of pancreatic cancers. This study was conducted to analyze the spectrum of pancreatic lesions cytology, and appraise the diagnostic accuracy of EUS-FNA cytology for pancreatic solid and cystic lesions.Materials and Methods:This retrospective study includes 288 EU… Show more

“…NAB has been used not only to improve the diagnostic efficacy 12 but also to evaluate molecular modifications in DNA, RNA, and protein as prognostic and predictive biomarkers. [13][14][15][16] The major advantage of using NAB for these tests is that a cytologic diagnosis can be provided even for patients with nonresectable tumors to inform therapeutic interventions.…”
