Eu3+ ions doped SrO-CaO-Li2O-B2O3glasses foroptical display material application

Abstract: The glass systems with composition 20SrO-5CaO-40Li2O-(35-x) B2O3-x Eu2O3 (x = 0.3, 0.5 and 1 mol%) glasses were prepared by melt quenching technique to study absorption and luminescence properties and understand their lasing properties. Thepresent work reports the studies on Physical, Optical and luminescence properties of the prepared glass systems. The photoluminescence (PL) intensity of the glass increases with increase in Eu2O3 content up to 1mol%. The increase in the density and decrease in molar volume r… Show more

“…The unique features of REOs suggest potential applications of these materials in optical displays. For instance, the optical properties of Eu 3+ -quaternary glasses, that is, intense red emission and longer half-life (i.e., ∼2.8 ms), 4 are suitable for glass-laser applications near the visible red spectrum (i.e., 614 nm). The increased photoluminescence peak of Er 3+ -borate glasses at 980 nm 70 indicates a high prospect in long-range photoamplification applications (i.e., broadband telecommunication).…”

“…The photoluminescence peak of Eu 3+ -quaternary glasses can also alter at different wavelengths due to the presence of divalent metal contents (i.e., Ca 2+ , Sr 2+ , Eu 2+ , etc.). 4 This phenomenon can be ascribed to the development of ligand-divalent metal complexes and their intricate charge-transfer mechanisms.…”

“…ions can occupy interstitial position in the borate glass network, causing the oxygen packing factor to change. The inclusion of alkali metals to the glass matrix is predicted to improve the moisture resistance of the glass [4].…”
