“…The combination of water content, elemental analysis, terbium content, MS analysis and IR demonstrates that the complex was successfully synthesised. Figure 6 shows the emission profile of Na3[Tb(DPA)3]·9H2O which shows the same signals as in the literature [15,28]. This additional information proves that the complex was successfully formed and has the expected optical behaviour and therefore the complex can now be incorporated into the silica nanobeads.…”

“…3) although this work is at too early a stage to allow any general rules regarding patterns of uptake, localisation of toxicity to be deduced. Previous studies of the cytotoxicity of zirconocenes, 16 and the existence of a long-lived PET-active isotope 89 Zr 17 suggest potential for bimodal imaging or combined imaging and therapy with this group.…”

“…H 2 dipic is one of the most suitable organic ligands with a recognized biological function for modeling potential pharmacologically active compounds due to the low toxicity, water-soluble, amphiphilic nature, and diverse biological activities [7,10,11]. On the other hand, carboxylic acids can adopt varied coordination modes such as bridging or chelating ligands, monodentate and multidentate, which could provide many coordination motifs to form discrete or in nite inorganic complexes [12]. 1,10-Phenanthroline (phen) has been used as a secondary ligand in the present work.…”
