People use goods and services related to Leguminosae-Mimosoideae resources to satisfy multiple needs in Cameroon. Despite some work already done, information on these goods and services remains insufficient. To date, the contribution of these plants to the needs of the population is also unknown. The objective of this study was to provide an overview of the uses of Leguminosae-Mimosoideae by rural and urban populations in Cameroon. Focus was on the genera Albizia, Parkia and Tetrapleura. Socio-economic and ethnobotanical data were collected throughout the study area based on semi-structured individual interviews of 173 respondents. Analysis of the data consisted of statistical and descriptive analyses, to study the position and dispersion characteristics of the data and inferential/decisional analyses consisting of parametric and non-parametric tests. Species vulnerability risk index was also calculated. Six parameters were used to assess economic value of the most requested species. The results show that seven species out of nineteen divided into three genera, are used in Cameroon and have ethnobotanical values. For Albizia, we noted that the species A. adianthifolia, A. laurentii, A. lebbeck, A. zygia have been identified, while for Parkia we have the species P. bicolor and P. biglobosa and finally, the species Tetrapleura tetraptera, for the genus Tetrapleura. Results showed that the Leguminosae-Mimosoideae have an ethnobotanical potential to be valorized, even outside Cameroon. The promotion of these species would increase their exploitation potential basis and increase income of rural and urban populations.

The objective of this study is to assess the importance of the supply and regulation services provided by the regreened landscapes in certain anthropized areas of Sahel zone. The methodology used is based on a socioeconomic survey coupled with an inventory of woody vegetation in agroforestry parks in two villages’ clusters: Dan Saga and Tabofatt. Ethnobotanical analysis tools and allometric equations are applied on the data collected. These led to three main results. First, a total of 43 and 34 species registered are used in six (6) usages, such as food, forage, technological, energetic, and medicinal uses respectively both in Dan Saga and Tabofatt cluster. Second, the two landscapes contain a remarkable specific flora diversity which contributes not only to soil fertility but also to sequester 6.04±0.236 and 4.5 9±0.568 tCO2.ha-1 respectively at Dan Saga and Tabofatt. And thirdly in the landscapes of two clusters the amount of woody species inventoried, meets the amount of social use requirements. These results show that scaling up of regreening program should focus on promoting useful species through updating the current forest legislation.

Background:The reciprocity in the exchanges between the local populations who hold the authentic traditional knowledge that they share with the conservation biologists was not sufficiently taken into account. For fairness and justice in these exchanges, the Nagoya Protocol on Access and Benefit-sharing was established. However, there is a lack of information on access and benefit sharing in unfunded ethnobotanical studies in Africa (MS and PhD research). Traditional knowledge on Detarium microcarpum Guill. & Perr. a multipurpose Fabaceae, unfortunately threatened with extinction, exists in Adamawa, Cameroon. Thus, in relation to a Master Research thesis without funding, a study was dedicated to this plant.Methods: Ethnobotanical methods have made it possible to test the following hypothesis: for an equal number of men and women, the points attributed according to gender to the categories of reciprocity experienced during an ethnobotanical study without funding are equal. Thirty available informed consent volunteers (15 men and 15 women) with knowledge on this plant participated in this study.
