Ethylene‐glycol Poisoning Treated by Haemodialysis

Abstract: Severe poisoning and deaths after intake of ethylene glycol in man were described for the first time in 1930 (6,17,37). During the 1940s and 50s several reports of similar cases of poisoning were published. The mortality was throughout very high (41). The relevant literature and the current principles of treatment were reviewed by Friedman et al. in 1962 (12).
