Ethnopharmacological knowledge of Shiraz and Fasa in Fars region of Iran for diabetes mellitus

“…In comparison between our finding and previous general studies on ethnopharmalogy/ethnobotany of Iran we have found 12 plant species including Berberis integerrima (Ahvazi et al, 2012;Mosaddegh et al, 2012;Rajaei and Mohamadi, 2012), Juglans regia (Ahvazi et al, 2012;Khajoei Nasab and Khosravi, 2014; Rajaei and Mohamadi, 2012), Citrullus colocynthis (Mosaddegh et al, 2012;Sadeghi et al, 2014), T. foenum-graecum (Miraldi et al, 2001;Mosaddegh et al, 2012), Urtica pilulifera (Mosaddegh et al, 2012;Rajaei and Mohamadi, 2012) Achillea wilhelmsii (Mosaddegh et al, 2012), Arctium lappa (Rajaei and Mohamadi, 2012), Artemisia seiberi (Sadeghi et al, 2014), Cichorium intybus (Mosaddegh et al, 2012), Teucrium polium (Mosaddegh et al, 2012) and Aloe vera (Sadeghi et al, 2014) were also reported from other parts of Iran to be used as a remedy for diabetes. Our focus in this study was on diabetes but we found that Attars believe a relationship between obesity and diabetes.…”
