“…( 25)Cinnamic acid, p-(trimethylsiloxy)-, trimethylsilyl ester, presents neuroprotective properties [18]. Some of the compounds found in PE include (13) 1-phenylpyrrolo [2,1,5-cd]indolizine and (14) 1-(p-Acetylbenzoyl)pyrrolidine, containing the pharmacophore structure pyrrolo [2,1,5-cd]indolizine reported with neuroprotective activity [19]. (15) Caffeine, an alkaloid associated with diuretic activity [20], decreases the rate of kidney stones and activates the central nervous system (SNC) [21].…”

“…There are 13 species of the genus Stanhopea, a member of the Orchidaceae family, including S. hernandezii, S. intermedia, S. maculosa, S. ruckeri, S. martiana, S. dodsonian, S. radiosa, S. saccata, S. pseudoradiosa, S. graveolens, S. oculata, S. whittenii, and S. tigrina [12]. Of these species, S. oculata and S. hernandezii are the only species of this genera with medicinal uses, including the reduction in abdominal pain in women and anti-fatigue activity [13]. Stanhopea tigrina is an endemic species of Mexico commonly known as "torito morado" or "calavera" in the Huasteca Potosina (central region of Mexico).…”

“…There are 1260 species in Mexico, of which 433 grow in the state of Veracruz (Castañeda-Zárate et al, 2012;Baltazar-Bernal et al, 2014). Some of these species have traditionally been used in ethnomedicine for the treatment of illnesses (Cano Asseleih et al, 2015) and consequently, some of them have already been phytochemically studied or biotested for finding a biological potential. Bioactive orchid secondary metabolites include terpenoids, polyphenols and flavonoids, which have shown antioxidant activity and proven application as antibacterial agents (Bhattacharyya et al, 2014;Chand et al, 2016;Bhatnagar et al, 2017).…”
