Abstract:Ethnic enclaves are spatial concentrations of coethnic immigrants organized by socioeconomic activities. Historically, ethnic enclaves emerged as a result of exclusionary policies and discrimination, but they persist because they serve invaluable functions for immigrants and later generation ethnics.
