Ethnic Allocation of Rewards in Organizations

Abstract: Organizations are proximate and powerful determinants of rewards by ethnicity: they constitute inequality regimes composed of status‐based interactions that combine with culture and normative practices that structure rewards (e.g., hiring and firing, promotion, wages) by ethnicity. This entry provides—based on research findings—an overview of key organizational sources that explain the allocation of rewards in the workplace by ethnicity.
