While crucial to overall economic growth, the construction industry also has a reputation for significant environmental impacts. There is a pressing need to adopt more environmentally friendly procedures in this sector in light of growing worldwide concerns about sustainability. This study delved into the pivotal role of ethical leadership in influencing environmental performance in the construction industry, particularly within the Kuwaiti context. Leveraging a multi-faceted approach, the study examined the mediating effects of environmental innovation and the overarching innovation climate fostered by ethical leaders. Following a quantitative approach, the hypotheses developed in light of the literature were tested using structural equation modeling (SEM). An empirical survey was conducted among 230 construction industry workers in Kuwait. The results confirm the relationship between ethical leadership and improved environmental performance. Furthermore, both environmental innovation and the broader innovation climate significantly mediated this relationship. The authors suggest further investigation into the role of additional potential variables as mediating and/or moderating factors. Recommendations are also made for the top management of construction firms for their consideration of environmental innovation and the innovation climate, along with the improvement of environmental performance.

This study aimed to investigate the influence of green supply chain management practices on the environmental performance of manufacturing firms, with a specific focus on understanding how institutional pressure moderated this relationship. The research design encompassed a holistic approach, incorporating an in-depth examination of the current literature and data collection via a well-structured questionnaire. Random sampling was utilized to gather data from manufacturing companies in Pakistan, and the data analysis employed PLS-SEM. The findings revealed a significant relationship between GSCM practices and the environmental performance of manufacturing firms. Moreover, the study identified that institutional pressure played a moderating role, influencing the strength of this relationship. Notably, the impact of GSCM practices on environmental performance varied under different levels of institutional pressure. This research underscored the importance of considering institutional pressure in understanding the link between GSCM practices and environmental performance. The implications extended to academics and practitioners, providing insights into the nuanced dynamics of sustainable practices in manufacturing settings. Practical implications involved tailoring GSCM strategies based on varying degrees of institutional pressure for optimal environmental outcomes. The original contribution of this study lies in its comprehensive exploration of the interplay between GSCM practices, institutional pressure, and environmental performance. By incorporating institutional pressure as a moderator, the research provided a nuanced understanding of how external influences shaped the effectiveness of GSCM in fostering ecological sustainability within manufacturing firms.

SMEs are a fundamental component of the economic structure in many countries. In the contemporary era of digitalization, SMEs are undertaking various initiatives to align with the evolving business landscape. This study aims to explore and synthesize research results on the role of digitalization in developing small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The literature review used the Scopus database. The data obtained were 127 documents from 2010 to 2023. SME digitization research has been conducted in 42 countries using 92 theories from 94 journals. The results showed three research clusters: business model innovation, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), and Information Technology (IT) capabilities. Digital platforms and information management assist SMEs in adjusting, creating new ideas, and staying competitive in difficult business circumstances. Digital platforms assist SMEs by extending market reach, automating operations, improving marketing and promotional efforts, analyzing consumer data to make better decisions, and strengthening team communication and customer care. Future research investigates effective strategies and educational programs aimed at helping SMEs acquire digital skills, adopt digital technology, and implement advanced blockchain-based contract systems. Future research also investigates the ethical implications of SME digitalization, encompassing issues related to data privacy, digital security, and the appropriate use of emerging technologies.
