Estudos químicos e biológicos de Microgramma vacciniifolia (Langsd. & Fisch.) Copel (Polypodiaceae)

Abstract: Recebido em 14/4/08; aceito em 13/11/08; publicado na web em 25/3/09 CHEMICAL AND BIOLOGICAL STUDIES OF Microgramma vacciniifolia (LANGSD. & FISCH.) COpEL (pOLypODIACEAE). Chemical studies with aerial parts of Microgramma vacciniifolia (Langsd. & Fisch.) Copel. afforded β-sitosterol, hopan-22-ol, 6-metoxiapinenin-7-O-β-D-allopyranoside and a mixture containing ethyl esters of carboxilic acids. The structures of the coumpounds were elucidated by spectroscopy and GC-MS analysis. The total phenolics contents of t… Show more

“…Silva (2009) found that the essential oil of the leaves of Hydrocotyle bonariensis, which is rich in monoterpenes (58.1%), such as (+)-limonene, exerts allelopathic effects on the germination and growth of lettuce and onion. Some ethanol extracts and semipurified fractions obtained from species of the cerrado also exhibit herbicidal effects (Peres et al 2009;Candido et al 2010). Phytotoxic and antioxidant activity of seven native fruits of Brazil Among the species cited in the present study, those that presented the greatest antioxidant potential were Acrocomia aculeata (peel), Tamarindus indica (peel), Byrsonima intermedia (whole fruit) and Psidium firmum (whole fruit).…”

“…The presence of phenolics in extracts of Dicksonia sellowiana may contribute directly to its antioxidant properties (Duh et al, 1999;Bora et al, 2005). Ethanolic and ethyl acetate extracts showed good antioxidant action based on the DPPH radical scavenging assay in Microgramma vacciniifolia (Peres et al, 2009). According to Hort et al (2008), the antioxidant activity and hepatoprotective potential of crude extracts are based on organic solvents of increasing polarity.…”

“…For example, species of the genus Microgramma present a long-crawling rhizome that allows the occupation of extensive areas in the forophytes (Waechter 1998;Kersten and Silva, 2001). Specifically, M. vaccinifolia could have taken the highest IVs due to its aleopathic potential (Peres et al 2009) and this species is cyanogenic, what can be reducing the predation (Santos et al, 2005) and increase its population. Microgramma squamulosa has a high sclerophylly index (Rocha et al, 2013), stomatal density and higher thickness of hypoderm in more polluted environments , and these adaptations are important under water stress (Fahn and Cutler, 1992).…”
