Estudio de la calidad del agua en los puntos de suministro al usuario del campus de la Universidad de Alicante

Abstract

The protection of health and the prevention of water-related diseases is a major challenge for water supply systems. Disinfection ensures the effective elimination of any pathogenic organism that may be a source of waterborne diseases. Based on Royal Decree 902/2018, of 20 July, based on the WHO risk assessment methodology and from which the Water Health Plans are derived, and Royal Decree 140/2003, of 7 February, which establishes the health criteria for the quality of water for human consumption, the correct compliance with the Water Health Plan, recently implemented at the University of Alicante, is analysed through an extensive campaign of quality analysis at different points throughout the university. In addition, different agronomic indices are studied to determine its suitability as irrigation water. It is concluded that, despite the long period of disuse of the facilities caused by the pandemic and inactivity during the summer months, the water on campus has the minimum quality required, being suitable for human consumption and increasing the confidence of users in the quality of drinking water on campus.
