Abstract:Stagnant water in asphalt-overlaid bridge decks is a primary cause of deterioration. Rainwater seeping through the asphalt layer stagnates on waterproofing membranes of the bridge deck, consequently degrading the asphalt pavement and the underlying concrete deck.
