Estimation of the neutron generation in the combined magneto-inertial fusion scheme

Abstract: The results of calculating the combined effects of intense laer beams and plasma jets on a cylindrical target located in external magnetic field are presented. Parameters of compressed plasma are demonstrated and the capability to create neutron source with combined scheme-the number of neutrons per unit length N fus ≈ 10 15 n•cm −1 by the time the exposure is completed, is shown. The conclusion is drawn about the prospects of the combined use of laser radiation and pulsed jets in interaction with a magnetiz… Show more

“…Recent works [126][127][128][129][130][131][132][133] illustrate this approach well. In addition, we note that different vortices can form under different conditions [134][135][136][137][138][139][140][141].…”

The conductivity coefficient λ Σ and viscosity coefficient µ Σ [29], the ASTEROID computer system [30], and the Thomas-Fermi model [31] are used for calculations.…”

“…The main technique that allowed for the consideration of the appearance of particle agglomerates in the flow after their collision was the introduction of van der Waals forces, which are responsible for the phenomenon of cohesion. Various aerodynamic and energy systems can serve as examples of the use of two-phase flows in the future [113][114][115][116][117][118][119]. It should be mentioned that mixing and chemical reactions can occur in a two-phase flow.…”
