Estimation of the external quality characteristics of goose eggs of known breadth and length

Abstract: In this study, we investigated whether the mathematical formulas, which generally reveal the external quality characteristics of living organisms, yield the correct results in goose eggs. For this purpose, three genotypes and 555 eggs were studied that were grouped into Native (n = 356), Chinese (n = 163) and Linda (n = 36), which were raised in Aksaray province. The averages in the Native, Chinese and Linda geese were 5.43, 5.38 and 5.7 cm, respectively, in breadth; were 8.12, 8.03 and 8.67 cm in length, resp… Show more

“…Egg-shaped curves and surfaces have wide applications in engineering (air, civil, food). For the calculation of A, V and S of egg-shaped curves and surfaces, mostly numerical approximations were used, such as the ones presented in works [17], [25], [28], [37], [45], [50], [53]. In this paper, we determined the formulae for calculating A, V and S in a Hügelschäffer model and we expect that the obtained result will be applicable in various engineering areas.…”

“…Analogous to the previous example, a Hügelschäffer egg-shaped curve model can be generated according to the profiles of egg-shaped pipe sewers obtained through composition of circular arcs with the shape index B/L = 2/3 or B/L = 3/4 as given in [51]. In recent years, the application of Hügelschäffer models, as well as other mathematical models for describing the shape of eggs -ovoid forms (curves and surfaces) in the poultry industry and food engineering is on the rise, as evident from papers [2], [14], [15], [17], [20], [22] - [32].…”

“…Various parameters were then calculated using established formulas to enable further analysis of egg characteristics. These parameters included the geometric mean diameter (Dg), surface area (S), volume (V), shape index (SI), sphericity (Sp), elongation (E), and specific gravity (SG), all of which were obtained with utmost care and precision, thus providing valuable insights into the physical properties of the eggs [16][17][18][19][20][21][22].…”
