Abstract:The equilibrium and nonequilibrium average charges of boron, carbon, and nitrogen ions are cal culated as functions of the carbon target thickness in a broad projectile energy range of 0.01 to 10 MeV/nucleon. The calculations are based on a method for determining the electron loss and capture cross sections in solids. The equilibrium target thickness is estimated for different energies of projectile ions.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
