Estimation of structural and mechanical properties of Cadmium Sulfide/PVA nanocomposite films

Abstract: Cadmium Sulfide (CdS) nanoparticles have been synthesized by hydrothermal method, and dispersed in varying amounts by weight, in Poly Vinyl Alcohol (PVA) matrix. Subsequently, PVA/CdS nanocomposite films have been characterized and analyzed to estimate CdS nanoparticles effect on the properties of PVA films. Both mechanical and structural properties have been considered for the analysis. From the FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy) analysis it's found that stretching of C-H, CO, COC and COS were obs… Show more

“…The multistage thermo-oxidative degradation of epoxy systems has been reported in previous studies [31]. It is reasoned that several complex chemical reactions involving epoxy chains, such as aromatization and dehydrogenation of alkyl groups occurred [32]. Incorporating inorganic fillers tends to delay the volatilization of several by-products originating during thermal decomposition, thus giving a way to multistage degradation.…”

“…Koteswararao et al (2019) produced PVA films embedded with cadmium sulfide nanoparticles at various concentrations. The authors obtained mechanical values for pure PVA films of 33.20 MPa for the modulus of elasticity and 17.03 MPa for tensile strength.…”

“…The crystallinity of PVA was reduced effectively. The inorganic salt particles in PVA can enhance the mechanical properties of the protective layer . Hence, the synergy of PVA and Li 3 PO 4 can effectively improve the performance of the protective layer and stabilize the lithium deposition behavior.…”
