Estimation of Resource Productivity and Efficiency: An Extended Evaluation of Sustainability Related to Material Flow

Abstract: This study is intended to conduct an extended evaluation of sustainability based on the material flow analysis of resource productivity. We first present updated information on the material flow analysis (MFA) database in Taiwan. Essential indicators are selected to quantify resource productivity associated with the economy-wide MFA of Taiwan. The study also applies the IPAT (impact-population-affluence-technology) master equation to measure trends of material use efficiency in Taiwan and to compare them with … Show more

“…E-waste recycling is much concerned by producers or manufacturers under the extended producer responsibility (EPR) policy (Gupt and Sahay, 2015;Wang et al, 2014)din most cases, via paying the recycling cost, which is strongly related to the economic value of recycled products and the overall processing cost. The former is easily obtained from the composition of WEEE.…”

“…Recent MFA studies show good analytical potential for enhancing the understanding of the flow structure and processes in both agricultural commodities and NTFPs as they undergo transformations in the context of sustainable development [33]. MFA allows for adoption of non-forest agricultural production systems.…”

“…In the case of the material flow analysing, only the most essential material transfers between the points of receipt and delivery of material or goods are identified. A systematic approach to material flow analysis requires obtaining and analysing the information about [23][24][25]:…”
