Estimation of Missing Streamflow Records in the Euphrates Basin using Flow Duration Curves and Regression Models

Abstract

ÖZET: Herhangi bir bölgedeki su yapılarının tasarımı, planlanması ve işletilmesinde akım verileri oldukça önemli rol oynamaktadır. Bu akım verilerinin amaca ulaşmada etkin bir biçimde kullanılabilmesi için istatistiksel açıdan yeterli uzunlukta olması ve gözlem süresinde eksik verisinin bulunmaması gerekmektedir. Fakat, akım ölçümlerinde genellikle eksik kısımlar bulunmakta ve bu eksik verilerin güvenirliliği ispatlanmış yöntemler ile tahmin edilmesi gerekmektedir. Bu çalışmada, Fırat Havzasının Yukarı ve Orta Fırat kısımlarında bulunan 2119, 2151, 2149, 2158 ve 2122 nolu akım gözlem istasyonlarındaki (AGİ) eksik akım verileri Debi Süreklilik Çizgileri ve Regresyon Modelleri ile tahmin edilmiştir. Her bir istasyon için kurulan alternatif modeller içerisinden en iyi modelin belirlenmesi aşamasında modelin determinasyon (R 2 ) ve hata karelerinin ortalamasının karekökü (RMSE) katsayıları kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen bulgulara göre her iki yöntemde de yüksek R 2 'ye sahip oldukça başarılı sonuçlar elde edilmiştir. Buna ek olarak, 2151, 2119, 2122 ve 2158 nolu istasyonlar için Regresyon modelleri, 2149 nolu istasyon için ise Debi Süreklilik Çizgileri yöntemi ile yapılan tahminlerin tarihi serilerin temel istatistiksel özelliklerini (ortalama, standart sapma, çarpıklık katsayısı v.b) korumada daha başarılı olduğu görülmüştür.Anahtar Kelimeler: Debi süreklilik çizgileri, eksik akım verileri, Fırat Havzası, regresyon modelleri ABSTRACT: Streamflow records play important role for design, planning and management of water structures in any region. In order to use the streamflow efficiently for these purposes, the length of data records must be statistically sufficient and complete. But, there are usually some gaps at the streamflow records and these gaps must be infilled by means of reliable methods. In this study, the missing streamflow records in the gauge stations 2119, 2151, 2149, 2158 and 2122, which are located in the upper and middle parts of the Euphrates Basin, were estimated using Flow Duration Curves and Regression Models. To define the best model among alternatives, determination coefficient (R 2 ) and Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) were used. According to the results, both of the models produced successful results with a high value of R 2 . Moreover, the results showed that the Regression Models for the stations 2151, 2119, 2122 and 2158 and Flow Duration Curves for the station 2149 were more capable to preserve the main statistical properties of the historical data.
