Estimation of Green House Gas Emission from Indian Coal Based Thermal Power Plant

Abstract: Measurements of CO 2 (direct GHG) and CO, SO 2 , NO (indirect GHGs) were conducted on-line at some of the coal-based thermal power plant in India. The objective of the study having three major objectives: to quantify the measured emissions in terms of emission coefficient per kg of coal and per kWh of electricity, to calculate the total possible emission from Indianthermal power plant, and subsequently to compare them with some previous studies. Instrument IMR 2800A Flue Gas Analyzer was used on-line to measur… Show more

“…Prompt NOx -Brief NOx is shaped from atomic nitrogen noticeable all around consolidating with fuel in fuel-rich conditions which exist, somewhat, in all ignition. Brief NOx represents under 5 percent of the complete NOx emanations [19][20][21][22].…”

“…On the basis of the collected statistical data, during its first year of work, the direct injection to the grid of the PV system is about 8 MWh/day, which represents the saving of 4.74 equivalent tonnes of coal/day from a coal based thermal power plant. The production of electricity from the proposed solar PV plant will reduce the CO 2 emission of 8.73 tonnes/day, as well as other polluting gases and particles if it replaces a coal-based thermal power plant [19]. Considering the results presented in this work, we can project that the installation of PV systems in roofs of ISM campus buildings mean that in the next 10 years thousand tonnes of CO 2 would not be emitted to the atmosphere, due to the saving of thousand tonnes of coal used nowadays to produce electricity.…”
