Estimation of future power consumption level in smart grid: Application of fuzzy logic and genetic algorithm on big data platform

Abstract: Summary In an environment where the importance of new and renewable energies is growing, the balance between energy production and consumption cannot be achieved easily. Although it is possible for the one with surplus power to supply it to the one experiencing a shortage, power demand can hardly be expected to exceed supply or both to stay at equal levels at all times. In such case, a network limited to an individual or a small group can be regarded as a small single node so that the larger network consisting… Show more

“…In the 1950s, game theory has been widespread through a wave of application, during which a flurry of solutions were introduced such as the conception of the core, fictitious play, model game of repetition or the extensive form, and the Shapley value. Currently, game theory is had extensive employments in whole fields of social science, logic, systems science, and computer science also ( [17][18][19][20][21]). In construction management, game theory has been employed in various aspects, from the preconstruction stage to the construction period, to explain and predict outcomes, such as: claim decision model [22], risk management [23], design payment mechanism [24], subcontractor cooperation [25].…”

“…The Smart Grid (SG) network makes it possible to integrate electrical resources from different origins such as conventional energy and renewable energy; technological resources such as automated systems, smart consumer devices, electrical energy storage, and data storage. An SG system reduces the obstacles of integrating renewable energy (ER) to national and international electrical systems (Je & Huh, 2019). The SG systems show that they have at least five purposes: first, reduce the energy dependence of non-renewable resources; second, reduce the non-positive impact on the environment of energy pollution; third, increase energy security, by integrating the ER into the system; fourth, improve the operational, energy, cost, and management efficiency of the electrical distribution systems; fifth, increase stability, system reliability, service improvement, and consumer participation.…”

“…Je and Huh 5 studied and provided the scheme for maximum profit and predicted future power demands for smart grid application with a genetic algorithm. This algorithm is dependent on the game theory‐based fuzzy logic.…”
