Estimation Method of an Electrical Equivalent Circuit for Sonar Transducer Impedance Characteristic of Multiple Resonance

Abstract: Improving the operational efficiency and optimizing the design of sound navigation and ranging (sonar) systems require accurate electrical equivalent models within the operating frequency range. The power conversion system within the sonar system increases power efficiency through impedance-matching circuits. Impedance matching is used to enhance the power transmission efficiency of the sonar system. Therefore, to increase the efficiency of the sonar system, an electrical-matching circuit is employed, and this… Show more

“…For the modeling of the HPI GP6 piezoelectric transducer, the model called Butter worth-Van Dyke (BVD) was considered, as recommended by the IEEE Standard on Pie zoelectricity (ANSI/IEEE Std 176-1987) [19]. The BVD model is useful for the analysis o the electrical performance of piezoelectric transducers [20] and can be used in the design and optimization of piezoelectric devices [21][22][23][24]. The BVD model circuit consists of a re sistor, an inductor and a capacitor in series (𝑅 𝑚 , 𝐿 𝑚 , 𝐶 𝑚 ), all connected in parallel with a second capacitor (C 0 ), as shown in Figure 5.…”

“…Finally, in the last paper, Jang et al [ 11 ] introduced an electrical equivalent circuit for sonar sensors based on their impedance characteristics by proposing an estimation approach to derive the equivalent circuit. In this study, a particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is employed for parameter estimation of high-degree electrical equivalent circuits.…”
