Abstract: The previously unknown extent of the goodness of using model compounds for the microspeciation of polyprotic systems was studied. Mirror-symmetric dibasic compounds and their monosubstituted derivatives were investigated to quantify how the derivatives are appropriate models of the minor microspecies to be mimicked in various microspeciation systems.
