Zur Ausbreitung luftfremder gasformiger Stoffe in der Atmosphare werden die wichtigsten experimentellen Untersuchungsverfahren sowie wesentliche mathematische Modellvorstellungen besonders von GauO-Modellen dargelegt. Dabei wird insbesondere die Einwirkung der von meteorologischen Einfliissen gepragten konvektiven und turbulenten Eigenschaften der Atmosphare auf die Ausbreitung von Abgasfahnen behandelt. Ein aquidensitometrisches MeBverfahren hat gezeigt, daB die Langzeitstrukturen einer Raffinerie-RuDfahne im norddeutschen Raum mit einem GauD-Fahnenmodell quantitativ beschrieben werden konnen. Hieraus ergeben sich die fur alle Ausbreitungsmodelle fundamentalen Streuungsparameter bzw. AustauschgroBen, deren Entfernungsabhangigkeit und GroBenordnung aus der aquidensitometrischen Ballenstruktur der Abgasfahnen verstandlich wird.The dispersion of pollutant plumes. Experimental methods for the determination of plume characteristics and basic mathematical diffusion models with particular emphasis on Gaussian models are reviewed. The most important process in the dispersion of air pollutants is turbulent diffusion in the atmosphere. Equidensitometric measurements of oil refinery plumes in North Germany show that the Gaussian plume model is applicable. The fundamental plume concentration standard deviations and eddy diffusivity coefficients are determined. The equidensitometric model of the eddy structure of plumes explains the time-averaged properties of the plume. Einleitung
