Estimating an EQ-5D-Y-3L Value Set for China

Abstract: Introduction The standard EQ-5D-Y-3L valuation protocol applies DCE data as the primary preference source to model the relative importance of dimensions while cTTO data served to anchor the DCE coefficients onto the QALY scale. This study aims to estimate an EQ-5D-Y-3L value set for China following this protocol, but with a larger cTTO design to better understand the role of cTTO data in estimating EQ-5D-Y-3L value sets. Methods In total, 150 choice sets and 28 EQ-5D-Y-… Show more

“…This paper reports the first checklist for studies reporting values for HRQoL of children. There has been a notable increase in research aimed at producing values for child HRQoL in recent years; for instance, many value-sets for the EQ-5D-Y-3L (for example [ 18 , 22 26 ]) instrument have commenced or been completed since 2020 [ 27 ]. However, the methods being used to value the EQ-5D-Y-3L and other childhood HRQoL instruments vary widely [ 3 , 8 ], are not always fully reported, and the values can have quite different characteristics.…”

“…34 The protocol specifies a minimal set of 10 health states to be valued using the TTO, weighted toward the 2 ends of the scale, although in several countries, additional health states have been valued. 14,29,35,36 A recent commentary identified strengthening the design of the TTO component of the protocol-specifically, which states should be includedas a top priority for methodological research. 37 The implications of our work for the valuation of the EQ-5D-Y-3L are as follows.…”

“…Cost differences will be statistically tested, while resource usage differences will not be compared to prevent false positives. Quality-adjusted life year (QALY) will be calculated from EQ-5D-Y and CHU9D scores using validated algorithms for Chinese children and adolescents [60, 61]. Given potential non-normality in cost data, a non-parametric random forest permutation model will handle missing data.…”
