“…The ionospheric delay was calculated through numerical integration by the method of characteristics of ray equations for a two-dimensionally inhomogeneous ionosphere. Table 1 shows, as an example, part of the results reported in [1] of the comparison between such calculations of the ionospheric correction, considered as accurate, and the approximate method of its calculation applied to GNSS. This method uses a simplified ionospheric model to find the vertical total electron content (TEC) for the vertical passing from the Earth surface through the intersection point of the signal path from a navigation satellite (NS) to a receiver with the line of the peak electron density of the ionosphere (aka subionospheric point).…”
