Esterase variation among Argentine populations of Trimerotropis pallidipennis (Orthoptera)

Abstract: Summary -Isozyme studies were carried out in 3 populations of Trimerotropis pallidipennis from Tucumin and San Luis Provinces (TU, SLi and SL 2 ) (Argentina). The purposes of this study were: determination of the numbers of genes and alleles involved in the production of the isozymes and their frequencies, detection of diagnostic loci for population identification and measuring the genetic variability and the degree of genetic differentiation among populations. With this aim, the esterase (EST) isozyme system … Show more

“…These are explained in part by the patterns of variation of esterase loci which match those of chromosome frequencies, probably as a consequence of linkage. Interestingly, similar distributions of Est-5 and Est-6 alleles were observed for other populations of T pallidipennis collected in 1988, in spite of one of them being separated by a great distance (800 km) (Confalonieri et at., 1990).…”

“…The inheritance of bands corresponding to the LDH, SOD, PEP and GOT systems has been described elsewhere (Confalonieri et at., 1990. MDH is coded by three loci (Mdli-], Mdh-2 and Mdh-3) and ME by one (Me-i).…”
