Establishment of the hybrid endoscopic full-thickness resection of gastric gastrointestinal stromal tumors

Abstract: Abstract. A prospective observational study was conducted to establish the procedure of hybrid endoscopic full-thickness resection (EFTR) using an existing flexible endoscope. The present study included 16 patients who underwent hybrid EFTR between September 2009 and February 2013 for gastric gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST). The patients were selected using the following inclusion criteria for histological findings: Mitotic counts <5/high-power field and immunohistochemical stains positive for KIT or clu… Show more

“…As shown in Figure 3 , the search of the PubMed database yielded 8 (294 tumors), 5 (166 tumors), and 2 (51 tumors) studies on gastric submucosal tumors resected by endoscopic non-tunneling (ESD[ 6 7 8 12 13 14 15 16 ] and EFTR[ 9 10 17 18 19 ]) and tunneling resection,[ 11 20 ] respectively. Related information was extracted from each study (Supplemental data).…”

“…No artificial perforations are required for NEWS, and unexpected perforations rarely occur . Furthermore, perioral removal of tumor specimen limits the use of NEWS or endoscopic fullā€thickness resection for larger tumors . Compared with these procedures, SAMIT is a simple procedure.…”
