Establishment of the hematology reference intervals in a healthy population of adults in the Northwest of Morocco (Tangier-Tetouan region)

Abstract: IntroductionAmong the most useful biological examinations in common medical practice, blood count is the most prescribed. The reference intervals of the hematological parameters of this examination are of major importance for clinical orientations and therapeutic decisions. In Morocco, the reference values used by the laboratories of medical biology and used by doctors are ones collected from Caucasian and European individuals. These values could be different in the Moroccan population. Besides, reference inte… Show more

“…This is mostly contributed to a decline in the hematopoietic activity with the age, which is in agreement with a recently conducted study in Morocco. 18 This difference was not observed in the female's population that might be contributed to the small sample size in our study compared to others. 19 This is the first report on the establishment of reference intervals for hematological parameters for residents of the city of Sulaimaniyah, Iraq.…”

“…5 Following the guideline, several RI studies involving hematological parameters have been conducted in recent years in African countries. [6][7][8][9][10] However, these reported RIs were discordant. 11 This is probably attributable to either small sample size, loose criteria for volunteer recruitment, not accounting for latent diseases, or use of nonparametric method for analysis that is susceptible to extreme values.…”
