The biological half-life and dissipation rate of azoxystrobin in crown daisy were calculated to establish the pre-harvest residue limits (PHRLs). The pesticide residues were calculated after washing with five different processes to propose an effective process in the household and conducted a risk assessment to confirm dietary safety. Azoxystrobin was sprayed according to the critical good agricultural practices (cGAP) in two different field trials, and the samples were harvested 7 times. The limit of quantitation was 0.02 mg/kg, and the mean recoveries of azoxystrobin were within the range of 70∼120% with below 20% coefficient variation at the concentration of 0.02 and 0.2 mg/kg . The biological half-lives were 7.4 and 4.7 days, and the dissipation rate constants were 0.0872 and 0.1217 in fields 1 and 2, respectively. The average removal rates were 58.13∼78.13% by the different washing processes, and there were significant differences between the washing processes (one-way ANOVA analysis and post-hoc Duncan test, p-value<0.05). The residues of azoxystrobin in crown daisy were safe levels from farm to fork after application with the critical good agricultural practice (cGAP) registered in Korea.

Prediction of residual concentrations of applied pesticides during the pre-harvest period may be required to ensure the safety of agricultural products. In this study, time-dependent dissipation trends of carbaryl (CB), kresoxim-methyl (KM), flubendiamide (FB), flufenoxuron (FN), bitertanol (BT), and chlorantraniliprole (CN) applied to apples at recommended and threefold greater doses were modeled to estimate pre-harvest residue limit concentrations (C) indicating permissible pesticide concentrations during the pre-harvest period. Double-exponential (DE) model results best fit the dissipation trends of all tested pesticides (correlation coefficients of 0.91-0.99) compared to zero-, first-, and second-order models. Among the pesticides examined, CB half-lives in apples of 2.9 and 6.6 days were the shortest, while those of FN (21.1-32.7 days) were the longest. The C values for each pesticide in apples were estimated with DE model parameter values and could be used to determine harvest dates for safe apples with pesticide concentrations below their maximum residue limits. Application of the DE model for C calculation provides more accurate information for farmers to produce agricultural products safe from pesticide residues.

Dissipation constants and half-lives of acaricides etoxazole and flufenoxuron in apples were calculated to establish their pre-harvest residue limits (PHRLs). The acaricides were sprayed on apples with single and triple doses based on safe use guidelines, and their residual patterns in the apple were interpreted using first order kinetics equation. The residual amounts of acaricides during the experimental period were below their maximum residue limits (MRL) for apple. The dissipation constants of acaricides in the apples were calculated at 0.0788 for etoxazole and 0.0319 for flufenoxuron corresponding to their biological halflives; 8.8~21.7 days for etoxazole and 21.7~23.1 days for flufenoxuron. The PHRLs of acaricides in the apple showed the residual amounts of etoxazole and flufenoxuron at the harvesting date would be below their MRLs if their residual amounts were less than 0.87 and 0.88 mg/kg, respectively, at 7 days prior to harvesting the apples.
